Mother Angelica went to meet Our Lord Jesus on Easter Sunday, what an amazing grace! I am sure she is in heaven as Pope Francis also said. While watching many stories about her life I was amazed to hear the one about Saint Therese and how through her intercession Mother Angelica was not only healed but converted on a profound level. Eventually that conversion led her to become a Sister and the rest is history!
Here is the story of Mother Angelica and her novena to St. Therese:
The story of her miraculous healing is recounted in the book "Mother Angelica: The Remarkable Story of a Nun, Her Nerve, and a Network of Miracles” by Raymond Arroyo. Young Rita Rizzo [Mother Angelica 18 years old at the time] was suffering from incredible stomach pains for many years. Providentially a friend brought her to an Ohio mystic/stigmatic named Rhoda Wise on January 8, 1943. At this meeting, Rhoda told Rita to make a Novena to St Therese of Lisieux, and she gave her a pamphlet to St Therese to pray to St. Therese for a cure for her stomach pains. On the final day of the novena Rita Rizzo woke up in the night with severe pains in her stomach - she said "It seemed like something was pulling my stomach out". In the morning she woke up with no more pain and she was miraculously cured. Concerning this first miraculous healing she stated: "When the Lord came in and healed me I had a whole different attitude. I knew that God knew me and loved me and was interested in me. I didn’t know that before. All I wanted to do after my healing was give myself to Jesus.”~Mother Angelica
